5QF & NFF...and the weekend is FINALLY here!!

I'm SO SO glad it's finally Friday! I get to see my sis and her family this weekend, as they are visiting Florida for their vacation. Never mind that I have to travel to see them....they are SO worth it!

So here's my weekly Five Question Friday, with Mama M, and New Friend Friday, with The Girl Creative. ENJOY YOUR WEEKEND!!

New Friend Fridays

1. Did you have a favorite blanket or toy as a kid? If so, do you still have it?
I remember several toys/animals that were favorites when I was younger, but the earliest memory I have is of my "Cholly Dolly". She was soft and washable, and had a rattle in her head. I'm pretty sure most every child born in the 70's had one, but mine was extra-special, because she was mine! I still have her, and hope to pass her down one day!

This is not a picture of my actual Cholly....mine is much more "loved", but this is what she looked like.

Looking back, I feel bad for my sister. She had the blue version, which was a boy with a vest. I guess being the "2nd" child, she often got the less desirable optioins. For Christmas one year, we both wanted CD player/boom boxes. We were given identical boom boxes, except mine was brand new in the box, and hers was a used model my dad found at a pawn shop. Totally unfair for her.

2. Do you dream in color?
I'm lucky to ever remember a dream, much less recall if it was in color or not. For some reason, I RARELY remember my dreams. I do remember one dream I had over and over again as a child though. I still remember every detail even though it's been 20 years. Our family was getting out of our car where we had parked along a street/sidewalk somewhere (always seemed like St. Augustine to me). There was a canal that ran parallel along the sidewalk, and a shark jumped out of the canal and landed on the sidewalk. It flopped along chasing us until we finally got away. I know, I'm weird, but it was always so vivid.

3. How tall are you? Do you wish you were shorter or taller?
I'm 5'3 1/4". If you notice, I was sure to include that additional 1/4 inch. I don"t really mind my height though....there are plenty of other things I could find to change, if I had to. Like this stubborn silver strands that keep popping up in my freshly cut & colored 'do.

4. If you could have anyone's (celeb or other) voice as the guide on your GPS, who would it be?
Such an easy question. Mac Powell, from Third Day, and he has to sing to me in between navigating. My husband Wade is fully aware of my infatuation (with Mac's voice, not him, necessarily, although he is an awesome guy) and lucky for me, Wade is a huge Third Day fan as well.

*sigh*

5. Do you return your shopping cart to the corral or leave it wherever in the parking lot?
Most of the time I return it to the corral. Occasionally, particularly if I'm being rushed by a certain significant other waiting in the truck, I will leave it somewhere else, but I'll place it strategically where it will not be in the way for others to utilize the space.

Warning: To come next week, picture overload of two adorable littles that I get to snuggle soon!

Five Question Friday/New Friend Friday

So, I've been a slacker lately and haven't blogged in weeks. Here's my attempt at picking up where I left off.

New Friend Fridays

I'm participating in Mama M's Five Question Friday again, and I welcome any new blog friends from The Girl Creative's New Friend Friday. Thanks for stopping by!

1. What were your school colors?
Elementary: Blue (Go Dragons!)
Middle School: Red & Blue (Go Spartans!)
High School: Teal, Black, & Silver (Go Sharks!)
College: GARNET & GOLD (GO SEMINOLES!!)

2. What's the best compliment you ever received?
A couple of weeks ago, I was asking my sister how my BIL's job interview went, and she was telling me about some of the questions they asked that he didn't expect to be asked. The interviewer asked my BIL who is role model is, and he said it was his mom (so sweet!!). I asked my sister who her role model was, and she said it was me. I thought she was joking and being silly, but when she convinced me that she was serious I started crying (I was driving in rush hour traffic, too). I am so humbled, honored, and not AT ALL worthy of that, and there are so many better people that she could choose as a role model, yet she chose me. The BEST compliment ever.

3. Do you buy cheap or expensive toilet paper?
This question made me laugh. Before I got married, I ALWAYS bought Kleenex Cottonelle. Growing up in a household that frequently was "out" of TP, I promised myself once I was on my own that a.) I would NEVER run out of TP, and b.) I would have the good stuff.

Then I got married. We still don't buy the "cheap" stuff, but apparently Angelsoft is best for septic tanks. At first, I was devastated and I thought my husband was just telling me the septic tank line to get his way with what TP he liked. I researched it and found out that, in fact, Angelsoft is best for septic tanks. So, that's what we use....until we move!! Then it's back to the best for my bottom. HA!

4. Have you ever had a surprise party thrown for you? Or have you had one for someone else?
Yes, and it was fun. However, I'd much rather throw someone else a party. You see, I don't really like being the center of attention (AT ALL) and it's bad enough when it's a party in your honor that you know about, but when it's a surprise and you stand there with a dumb look on your face and ALL THOSE PEOPLE STARING AT YOU??! Not a fan.

5. What is one material possession that you "can't live without"?
Hmm....probably a phone (or at least some way to communicate with those I love.) And then there are the days when I'm ready to throw it out the window and become Amish. And when it comes down to it, I could live without it if I had to, but I really wouldn't want to.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Finally Friday!!

This has been one LONG week, and I'm so glad it's finally Friday!

New Friend Fridays

I'm participating in Mama M's Five Question Friday again, and I welcome any new blog friends from The Girl Creative's New Friend Friday. Thanks for stopping by!

1. Do you know how to play a musical instrument? Does an iPod count?? I own a guitar, and I can play about 3 chords on it. I wish I could play it more than that, and I could probably do it if I just put the time and effort into it. I "played" the clarinet in middle school, and I use "played" loosely. I played enough to get by, and I think I enjoyed the idea of being in the marching band more than actually playing the clarinet, so once I realized that my "faking it" would probably be revealed before too much longer, I decided to spare my reputation and quit.

2. What is your pet peeve while driving? Just one?? People that cut me off, people that tailgate me, people that don't pay attention, people that drive too slow, people whose brake lights are burnt out, etc. Ok, I don't really enjoy driving all that much, at least where other people are on the road. I do it because I have to.

3. Would you rather have a housekeeper or unlimited spa services?  Spa service, hands down. I don't really mind housekeeping, but it sure would be nice to get a massage any time I wanted!

4. Is there a song that you hear that will take you back to the moment, like a junior high or high school dance?  Not any song in particular (because anyone that knows me knows I'm horrible at knowing who sings what song, even if I can sing every word to it) but when I hear certain 80's songs, all I think about is Skate City. There are certain songs that take me back to couple skates, the races, and shoot-the-duck roller skating within the first few notes of the song.

5. What song best represents your life right now? This one has stumped me. I'll have to get back to this one.

Five Question Friday

                           The Girl Creative

I'm participating in Mama M's Five Question Friday again, and I welcome any new blog friends from The Girl Creative's New Friend Friday. Glad you've decided to visit!

1. What do you think makes a good friend, or friendship?
I think the sign of a good friend is someone that you can completely be yourself with, without fear of being judged. Someone that regardless of how silly, crumby, selfish, honest, & raw you are with them, they still love you at the end of the day.

2. What is the last thing you bought & later regretted?
I'm not much of a impulse shopper, so my purchases are usually well-thought out and mulled over before I ever let go of the cash. Rarely do I regret buying something...this is not to say I don't often "return" when I change my mind, usually about clothes. I would much rather go home and try on clothes than stand in line for dressing room.

3. Have you ever had a prank played on you?
Yes. A few years ago, some friends of mine "forked" me. I woke up and walked outside to go to work, only to find HUNDREDS of white plastic forks stuck in the grass of my front yard! Then, as I walked to my truck, I also noticed they shoe-polished white forks all over the windows. Since I had to leave for work, I didn't have time to wash the shoe polish off, and all day I was afraid the "fork" would be mistaken for the pitchfork gang symbol of the Gangster Disciples, and feared for my life (for "misrepresenting" the gang) for the remainder of the day. Don't ask me how I know gang symbols. Long story.

4. What is your favorite theme park?
Umm....The Holy Land Experience, Orlando, Florida. Just kidding...I've never even been there, but I was there when the same property was called Splendid China. Ok, my favorite theme park is probably Disney World: The Magic Kingdom. Growing up an hour away, I've been so many times that I lost count, but it is still "magical" to me. I love the familiarity of the rides and park. Now that I'm older, I find it a little more challenging to put up with the crowds and long lines, but it still the most "magical place on earth."

5. Have you ever seen someone else give birth?
Yes, twice. My sister gave me the honor to be present for the birth of both my nephew Quinn and my niece Madigan. Talk about magical! The greatest miracle ever...new life!

Have a nice weekend!

Five Question Friday

The Girl Creative

I'm participating in Mama M's Five Question Friday again, and I welcome any new blog friends from The Girl Creative's New Friend Friday. Glad you've decided to visit!

1. If you could go back to college would you change your major? Or, if you were to go to college right now...what major would you choose?  If I got to go back, I would probably either do nursing or radiology. But I would have to take some photography classes, too. Oh, to do it all over again would be wonderful!

2. What do you love most about your home? Well, since we are looking at buying a house and moving in the somewhat near future, there are only a few things I love about the current one. Mostly, I love the supercheap rent (wish we could get a mortgage payment like that!!) and I love the privacy. I'm praying that our new place would have at least as much privacy as we have now.

3. What types of books do you like to read (if you like to read at all)?  I love to read!!! Depends on my mood what type I like to read, but anything from novels to biographies, theology, classics, etc. One of my favorite books of all time: Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers.

4. What is the grossest thing you've ever eaten? Hmm...a mussel. I'm not even sure why I did it. I'm just now starting to really enjoy seafood, and this mussel incident was several years ago. I don't remember if it was a dare or what, but I do know it was at a chinese buffet (should have been my first clue) and it was disgusting. Like snot. Never again.

5. If you HAD to be a character on a TV show, whom would you be? Oh my...this is a tough one. Can it be an older show? I'm thinking I would like to be Caroline Ingalls on Little House on the Prairie. I mean, who wouldn't want strapping Charles Ingalls as a husband?

Well, there you have it. Happy Friday.

Five Question Friday

This week, I'm participating in a blog hop, hosted by Mama M.

1. Is there something you've always wanted to try but just can't muster up the courage to actually do yet? Riding a motorcycle. I tried before, but I was too scared to lift up my feet. For now, I'll just stick to riding on the back with Wade, but eventually I want to try again.

2. If you had $100 handed to you in cash without your significant other knowing about it, what would you spend it on?
Probably spend it on him. I know that's lame, but honestly that's probably what I would do. If I were forced to spend it on me, I'd put in in my new camera fund.

3. What was your favorite piece of playground equipment as a child?Monkey bars!! I loved climbing. And hanging upside down. Wish I could still climb like I use to! I also loved the slide, but metal slides in the Florida sun never really made for a good combination. Ouch!

4. Do you prefer a sweet or hearty breakfast?
Definitely hearty...eating sweets too early (other than chocolate milk, of course) always makes me feel kind of yucky for a while.

5. Are you a Neat Freak or a Messy Bessy?
More neat freak, although I can get a little slack sometimes. I definitely prefer neat and organized to messy and chaotic though.

Check back next Friday for more questions!
